Thanks for visiting!
We are Kevin and Kara and we have been exploring North America in our 37′ Class A diesel motorhome, Pippi, since 2013. During this time, we have visited 29 states, 40+ National Parks, and driven over 50k miles.
Our blog, Trying to Unwind, is a labor of love and not intended as a business venture. I truly love researching and planning trips. All recommendations are based on our personal experiences. We pay for our travel and do not accept paid sponsorships. Let us help plan your trips with less research and without breaking the bank.
Our frugal travel style is Cheap and Cheerful. After 20 years of saving and planning, we left our full-time jobs to travel. We are both accountants and frugality comes naturally to us.
Now, we essentially live like locals eating most meals at home and choosing only the most unique, memorable paid activities. Most days we enjoy free or cheap activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking.
Our destination guides include day hikes for every hiking level, amazing paddle routes, free and low-cost attractions and sightseeing spots you will not want to miss. Check out our USA National Parks section before your next trip. We’ve researched and planned it all for you.
Check out our RV Living section for details on modifications we’ve made to our motorhome including our electrical and solar upgrades. We also share RV tips and trips we’ve learned through trial and error.
Please join us as we travel full-time, just trying to unwind from decades in high-stress corporate jobs.
